The 15thArtificial Limb Camp by and at MRPL concluded successfully today having enabled 98 people from different walks of life and age groups.

The 3 day Camp that was inaugurated by Shri. Abhaya Chandra Jain Minister – Fisheries, Youth Service and Sports,Govt of Karnataka on 2nd March at the MRPL Employees Auditorium saw hectic activities for the past 3 days - case sheet preparation, measurement taking, fabrication and fitting of the artificial lambs by experts from SukhdaSurgicals, Mumbai, and MRPL’s volunteers.

Beneficiaries came all over DK Dist and even from far flung Shimoga, and Kasargod. Of the 98 who registered 88 were men, the oldest amongst them being an 80 year old. There was also a two and a half year old child.

Shri H Kumar, MD MRPL said that under the Samrakshan umbrella, “arogyasamrakshan” and “shikshasamrakshan” are the thrust areas and it was heartening to see people walking back from the camp with their head held high, having found their feet once again. “Our Samrakshan is about bringing smiles to lives, and I am delighted to see this happen, once again”, he added.

The Artificial Limb Camp conducted annually from last 14 years by MRPL under “arogyasamrakshan” is completely free and has benefitted around 1000 people to date. ShriAbhaya Chandra Jain, Min for F, YS & S, post interacting with some of the potential beneficiaries of the camp said that such life enabling initiatives and many more are due to MRPL being in DK Dist. He lauded the community development activities of MRPL.
