A GST Outreach Programme was held in MRPL on 17-07-2017 to sensitize the stake holders about the landmark tax reform introduced by the Government of India. Dr M Subramanyam, IRS, Commissioner of Central Excise & Central Tax (GST), Mangalore and Shri H G Pavitra KCTS, Joint Commissioner of Commercial Taxes (Admn) & State GST were the chief guests on the occasion. Shri H Kumar, our Managing Director, presided over the programme.
Shri Shankar S, IRS, Assistant Commissioner Central Excise & Central Tax (GST), Shri Shreyas K M IRS, Assistant Commissioner Service Tax & Central Tax (GST), Shri HemajiNaik KCTS, Joint Commissioner of Commercial Taxes (Enforcement) & State GST, Shri Shambhu Bhat, KCTS, Deputy Commissioner of Commercial Taxes (Enforcement) & State GST also participated in the programme. Shri AK Sahoo, Director Finance, MRPL and Shri Rajeev Kushvah, CVO, MRPL were among the dignitaries present on the occasion. The stakeholders, vendors, contractors and service providers of MRPL in good numbers took part in the programme.
Mr HG Pavitra spoke on the occasion and gave the background of introduction of GST in the country and said that GST will avoid the cascading effect of taxes on goods and services. Dr M Subramanyam, said that GST has taken 17 years in the making. He said that GST would result in simplification of taxation system and help in ease of doing business. This is a landmark legislation of tax reforms. This will also benefit our exports and make our economy attractive for foreign investors.
Shri H Kumar, MD MRPL spoke on the occasion and said that introduction of GST would benefit the economy. He cited the example of abolition of Check posts at the state borders which enables the free movement of goods which would result in increase in demand for HSD. He also said that he would look forward for the inclusion of crude, petrol & diesel under GST which are at present kept out of the purview of GST.
Shri Shankar S and Shri Shreyas K M gave presentations about the Concepts of GST, Transition & Invoice and Registration Process. A question and answer session followed in which various queries of the stakeholders and vendors were clarified by the tax authorities.
