Valedictory ceremony of the Phase-1 of second batch of MRPL Kaushal Vikas Kendra
The valedictory ceremony of the rope-in program of the Phase-1 of the second batch of MRPL Kaushal Vikas Kendra was held at MRPL Employees Club 14-10- 2017. Shri H Kumar, Managing Director, Shri M Venkatesh, Director (Refinery), Shri M Vinayakumar, GGM (I/c Refinery, TS & MO), Shri B H V Prasad, GGM(HR), Ms Lekshmi M Kumaran CGM(HR & SDC) of MRPL and Shri Stephen Louis, Director, and Shri Anil Kumar N P, GM of NTTF were present on the occasion. Parents of the trainees were also present in the program.
The Rope-in program of the phase-1 of MRPL KVK second batch of students started on 3rd Oct 2017 and concluded on 14th Oct 2017. The remaining three and half months training will be held at NTTF, Bangalore.
Shri H Kumar, MD, complimented the trainees for being a part of MRPL KVK and motivated them that this training can be a stepping stone for bigger achievements in their life. The trainees showcased their talents and shared their experience of the rope-in program during the valedictory ceremony.
A total of 22 youths are being trained in the Phase-1 of the second batch by NTTF. The courses being conducted are “CNC operator - Vertical Machining Centre" and “Through Hole assembly operator”.
It may be recalled that in the first batch, 57 candidates have undergone training at NTTF, Bangalore and all of them have been placed in different companies with a job. The trainees had undergone four months training in two trades: Industrial Electrician and CNC Operator-Turning. The candidates have been selected from the neighbouring areas and villages around MRPL. All expenses including food, lodging, tutorial expenses, clothing in the form of uniform etc., are borne by MRPL Kaushal Vikas Kendra.
Inauguration of MRPL Greenbelt at Pilikula
In the project named ‘Let us plant a forest - Creation of Green Belt’, MRPL has sponsored plantation of saplings in Pilikula Biological Park at Vamanjoor, Mangalore. The green belt is being developed in a total area of 50 acres. In the I Phase of the Project covering 20 acres, saplings were planted last year. In the II Phase, planting of saplings has commenced in 30 acres of land.
The green belt was inaugurated by Shri B.Ramanatha Rai, Hon’ble Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology, GoK, at Pilikula Biological Park on 8th October 2017. Shri M Venkatesh, Director Refinery, Shri A K Sahoo, Director Finance, Shri Rajeev Kushwah, CVO and Shri H Jayaprakash Bhandary, Director – Pilikula Biological Park were among the dignitaries present during the occasion.
The Hon’ble Minister spoke on the occasion and said that we have to plant trees, take care of animals around us and preserve our environment to the future generations. He applauded the steps taken by MRPL to create Green belt at Pilikula.
Shri H Jayaprakash Bhandary, Director, Pilikula Biological Park giving the details about the project, said that in the first phase, more than 2,000 saplings of species endemic to Western Ghats have been planted. Apart from this, more than 1000 medicinal plant variety, another 1000 plants that attract butterflies towards them and a variety of aquatic plants have been planted. To cater to the needs of vegetarian animal species at the biological park, steps have been taken to grow fast growing and superior C04 variety of fodder in the green belt. In the second phase, another 7000 saplings are expected to be planted, he said.
Shri M Venkatesh, our Director Refinery, spoke on the occasion and said that the company has funded the project as a compensatory afforestation. We take pride in our efforts towards environmental conservation and continue to support such efforts in future, he said.
