The Republic day was celebrated in MRPL in front of MRPL Employees Club at 0900 hrs on 26th January 2018.

 

CISF Contingent of MRPL performed a Ceremonial Salute to the National Tricolour. Director Finance, CVO, Senior Management Personnel, Employees and their family members in large numbers were present during the occasion.

Shri M Venkatesh, Director Refinery unfurled the national flag. He addressed the audience during the occasion and recalled the construction stage of our refinery under Birlas and HPCL, 25 years ago. In the last few years we have won many accolades and honours especially for energy consumption, he said. In the state of Karnataka MRPL is one of the largest industries and plays a very important role in fulfilling petroleum requirements of the state, he elaborated. Our CSR projects have spread all over Karnataka and we hope to excel in our HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) functions too, he mentioned. We are with our Prime Minister’s dream to transform our nation, he said. A Global study conducted recently has in its report listed us among the cost effective companies, he concluded.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Inauguration of Oil & Gas Conservation Month Campaign – Saksham 2018

The inauguration of Samrakshan Kshamata Mahotsav (सक्षम) as a part of the Oil & Gas Conservation Month (OGCM) (16th January – 15th February 2018) was held in Training Centre on 16.01.2018.

 

Shri Peter Praveen Pinto, DGM - TS welcomed the gathering. Shri SP Kamath, CGM – PE & Production Planning gave the overview of the OGCM and requested employees and their dependents to participate actively in the various competitions and activities during the month.

Oil Conservation Pledge was administered in Hindi, English and Kannada by Shri Sanjay Varma, GGM (HSE & ISO), Smt. Vanita Kumar, GGM – OMC Sales and Shri Devdas Shenoy K, GGM (I/c Operation) respectively.

Shri Nandakumar, CGM – Petchem and R&D read out the Petroleum Minister’s message. Shri P Sujit, CGM-Projects read out the message from Secretary - MoPNG.

Shri Vinayakumar, GGM I/c Refinery spoke on the occasion and underlined the fact that massive efforts are required to achieve stiff target (78 MBN) set by the government in terms of energy efficiency. The Government is in the process to implement penalty if not complied with the energy efficiency target, he said.

Shri M Venkatesh, Director Refinery said that we need to improve our reliability index from 93 to 95 and then 97 and so on. If the penalty is imposed it would affect us not only in monetary terms but also the image of MRPL, he opined.

Shri H Kumar, Managing Director spoke on the occasion and said that there is still enough scope for growth left in the petroleum sector and the country’s requirement would be about 600 MMT capacity in the year 2040. The global average plastic consumption is 30kg per person but in India it is around 8kg which indicates growth for petrochemical business in the country, he said. The alternative sources of energy are being developed but the demand for petroleum and petrochemical products will continue, he concluded.
