‘Vrikshamathe’ fame veteran environmentalist Saalumarada Thimmakka joined hands with Green Refinery of Karnataka Coast, MRPL to celebrate Karnataka Rajyotsava.

Led by our Managing Director Shri M Venkatesh and Director Refinery Shri M Vinaya kumar, MRPL family gathered in large numbers to plant saplings and celebrate the cultural vibrancy of Karnataka.More than 500 members of MRPL family first participated in Kannada cultural procession that covered every stretch of MRPL township. A tree planting programme was held along with the celebrated guest. The event was organised by MRPL Employees Recreation Centre. Shri Sanjay Verma, GGM I/C Refinery, Shri BHV Prasad, GGM-HR, Shri T Ramakrishna, GGM – Projects, Shri Ravi prasad S, GGM Finance & CFO and other senior officers were present during the occasion.Speaking affectionately to the MRPL family, Thimmakka expressed her joy to see the enthusiasm of the people about greenery and was happy to see large trees in MRPL campus. She advised people to keep planting trees of all forms during their life time and contribute to the nature.

Shri M Venkatesh, our Managing Director said that the legends like Thimmakka represent alternate knowledge that needs to be acquired by all of us. Even without formal schooling she has learnt meaning of life by being one with nature and finding the meaning of life through her contribution to the people and nature around her.
