Activities during Swachhta Pakhwada 2018

Programme on 1st July 2018 (Sunday)

The inaugural programme of Swachhta Pakhwada 2018 was organised at Ganeshpura Junction, Katipalla – Kaikamba. Shri M. Venkatesh, Managing Director, MRPL inaugurated the Swachhta Pakhwada – 2018. Shri AK Sahoo, Director (Finance), Shri Rajeev Kushwah, Chief Vigilance Officer and other senior officials of MRPL were present during the occasion. Inauguration programme was followed by Shramadan activity by large number of MRPL Employees, CISF Personnel, NSS Volunteers of Govinda Dasa First Grade College, Surathkal and members of JCI, Ganeshpura.

 



Programme on 2nd July 2018 (Monday)
As a part of Swachhta Pakhwada – 2018, a painting competition was held at Government High School, Meenakaliya, Baikampady, Mangalore Taluk on 2nd July 2018. Theme of the competition was ‘Swachatha Abhiyaana’.

Shri Shrisha M. Karmaran, Asst. Manager (CSR) imparted an awareness talk to the students. Shri Lakshminarayana Rao, Head Master of the High School and other staff members of the school were present during the programme. A total number of 125 students participated in the competition.

 



Programme on 3rd July 2018 (Tuesday)

As a part of Swachatha Pakhwada – 2018, Awareness and Cleaning programme was held in three Retail Outlets of MRPL namely, MRPL Cargo Gate Retail Outlet, MRPL Retail outlet in Panambur & MRPL Retail Outlet in Kadri.

In the afternoon on 3rd July 2018, the second painting competition was held at Government High School, Kemra, Haleangadi, Mangalore.

An awareness talk on Swachatha was imparted to the students. Shri David, Asst. Head Master of the High School and other staff members of the school were present during the programme.

 

 

 

Programme on 4th July 2018 (Tuesday)

A painting competition was held at Government High School, Kinnikambala, Mangalore Taluk on 4th July 2018. Shri Shrisha M. Karmaran, Asst. Manager (CSR) delivered an awareness talk on the theme Swachatha to the students. Shri Mahesh Rama Naik, Head Master of the High School and other staff members of the school were present during the programme.

 

 

Programme on 5th July 2018 (Thursday)

As a part of Swachhta Pakhwada – 2018, distribution of Incinerators to 15 neighbouring schools/colleges in coordination with JCI Ganeshpura was held at Brahma Shree Narayana Guru High School Katipalla Mangalore Taluk on 5th July 2018. JCI Senator Rajshree Bhaje, Ex- National President - JCI inaugurated the programme. While inaugurating the programme she expressed that MRPL has taken a great initiative for the health and hygiene of the of the neighbouring girl students.

Shrisha M. Karmaran, Assistant Manager (CSR) MRPL briefed about the Swachhta Pakhwada programme and also informed about MRPL Swachh Bharath activities. Napkin burner machines were officially handed over to 15 schools/colleges.

 

 

Programme on 6th July 2018 (Friday)

As a part of Swachhta Pakhwada – 2018, a Live Panel discussion on MRPL’s contribution to Swach Bharath Abhiyaan was organised through a Local TV Channel “Namma TV” in vernacular language.

Shri B Prashanth Baliga, GM (CC) and Ms. Veena T. Shetty, CM(CSR) participated in the panel discussion along with a subject specialist from Mangalore.

 

 

Programme on 8th July 2018 (Sunday)

As a part of Swachhta Pakhwada – 2018, the newly built Toilet for Kateelu Educational Institutions in Kateel, Mangalore Taluk was inaugurated on 8th July 2018. MRPL has constructed Toilets at a cost of Rs. 20.50 lakhs for the use of more than 2000 students belonging to Kateelu Education Institutions, consisting of a Higher Primary School, a High School and a PU College.

Shri Umanath Kotiyan, MLA of Mulki Mudabidri constituency inaugurated the programme. President and office bearers of Kateelu Education Society, Vice President of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayath, President of Kateelu Zilla Panchayath and other dignitaries attended the programme.Programme was attended by more than 1500 students from the educational institutions.

 

 

Programme on 10th July 2018 (Tuesday)

As a part of Swachhta Pakhwada – 2018, an innovative Programme i.e., ‘Swachatha through Magic’ was organised in DK ZP Higher Primary School and High School, Mullakadu, Kavoor in Mangalore Taluk.

Mr. Ganesh Kudroli, the eminent magician from Mangalore conducted the magic programme for students. Through magic, swachatha awareness was imparted to the school children.

 

 

Programme on 11th July 2018 (Wednesday)

Waste Management programme organised on 11th July 2018 at Permude Grama Panchayath (GP) for the benefit of the women in Permude, Kuthethur and neighbouring villages.

The programme was organised in coordination with the Swachatha Kosh of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayath (DKZP). Awareness was created among the rural women about proper segregation of wet and dry waste, different methods of compost making, management of plastic waste etc through Video presentation. Ms. Saroja, President of Permude GP, GP Members were present during the function. More than 150 women from this region participated in the programme.

 

 

Programme on 12th July 2018 (Thursday)

Waste Management programme organised on 12th July 2018 at Kulai Mahila Mandala for the benefit of the women in Kodikere, Kulai and Hosabettu villages. The programme was organised in coordination with the Swachatha Kosh of DKZP.

Ms. Meenakshi, President of Kulai Mahila Mandala, Members of GPs and women from the surrounding area participated in the programme.

 

 

Programme on 13th July 2018 (Friday)

‘Swachatha through Magic’ was organised in Vidyadayinee Higher Primary and High School in Surathkal, Mangalore Taluk. Mr. Ganesh Kudroli, the eminent magician from Mangalore conducted the magic programme for students. In the beginning, Mr. Kudroli Ganesh administered Swachatha Pledge to the School Children and then the Swachatha awareness was created among the school children through the magic programme.

This innovative approach to create awareness about swachhatha was well received by the student community.

 

 

During the Swachhta Pakhwada, an interview on ‘Swachhta Programme’ with Shri M Venkatesh, our MD was broadcasted in All India Radio (AIR) on 12th July 2018. Shri B Prashanth Baliga, GM – CC participated in the Swachhta Discussion in AIR on 13th July 2018.

 

Swachhta Pakhwada Activities in Bangalore Office

As a part of Swachhta Pakhwada – 2018, Awareness and Cleaning programme was held in Bangalore Office on 09.07.2018.

An awareness talk was given by Shri DN Soral, CGM-M&BD on the importance of Shramadan activities and Swachhta Pakhwada which MRPL is observing from 1st to 15th July 2018. He motivated employees and other supporting staff of Bangalore Office to implement Swachhta in day to day life on regular basis without restricting to a particular day or place.

Subsequent to the inaugural programme, the employees and the supporting staff were divided in to various teams and cleanliness activities were carried out in different locations within Rajajinagar Industrial Estate and also in and around our Marketing Office, Bangalore.

 

 

 

Swachhta Pakhwada Activities in Hassan depot, Kasargod Depot, Maddur and Mandya Retail Outlets

Swachhta Pakhwada 2018 was also observed at Hassan depot, Kasargod Depot, Maddur and Mandya Retail Outlets.

The staff employed at Hassan and Kasargodu depots of MRPL voluntarily took up the cleaning of nearby areas and the surrounding areas were cleaned. An awareness session was also held for the surrounding people.

The Swachhta Programme was conducted in MRPL Retail outlets in Mandya and Maddur too. The dealer and staff members participated actively in the cleaning activities.

 

 

Beat Plastic - Environment Awareness Programme at BGS PU College

As part of World Environmental Day 2018 Celebrations and in furtherance to MRPL’s commitment to adapt sustainable practices, an Environment Awareness Programme was conducted at BGS PU College, Kavoor, Mangalore premises on 10th July 2018. The objective of the programme was to sensitise the students about imminent menace of plastic pollution and the measures needed to mitigate the peril and succeed to ‘Beat the plastic pollution’.

 

The programme was inaugurated by Shri Shri Dharmapalanatha Swamiji from Shri Adichunchanagari Mahasansthana Mutt, Kavoor, Mangalore.

Dr Bindu Sulochanan, Sr Scientist CMFRI, Mangalore and Shri Jayaprakash Nayak, Sr Scientific Officer, KSPCB, Mangalore were the invited guests for the programme. Shri U V Aithal, CGM (HSE&ISO), Shri K.G Prakash, GM (SD&ISO) & Shri B Prashanth Baliga GM (CC) represented MRPL during the programme.

Shri Jayaprakash Nayak addressed the gathering on importance of students inculcating Environment Awareness in their daily life and elucidated young students on the theme of this year’s World Environment Day, i.e. ‘Beat the plastic pollution’ and requested students to minimise the use of plastic.

Dr Bindu Sulochanan presented the effect of plastic pollution in Marine Eco System. She depicted the Life Cycle of Plastic material penetrating into the base of Marine Eco System and resulting in irreversible impact on Marine Biology.

Shri U.V Aithal explained about the initiatives being taken by MRPL to improve Bio-Diversity of the region by embarking on development of Biodiversity Park and presented the MRPL Green Cover Initiatives to improve the green canopy density of the region by planting trees in the neighbouring schools and colleges. He requested students to develop a habit of planting saplings and appealed them to be extra cautious when using plastic derivatives.

Shri Shri Dharmapalanatha Swamiji emphasized the importance of Environment awareness programme and requested to curb the use of plastic. Shri Satheesha M, Chief Manager (HSE) deliberated on novel technique – seed ball and its benefits over conventional plantation. He also distributed seed balls to the students.Shri Srinivas R, Chief Manager (HSE) and Shri Sugat, Manager (HSE) distributed cloth bags to the students at the end of the programme.

The saplings were planted in the premises of BGS College by the dignitaries and students.

 

 

Inaugural Programme of Swachatha Pakhwada 2018

The inaugural programme of Swachatha Pakhwada 2018 was organised at Ganeshpura Junction, Katipalla – Kaikamba at 8 a.m. On 1st July 2018(Sunday). Mr. M. Venkatesh, Managing Director, MRPL inaugurated the Swachatha Pakhwada – 2018. Shri AK Sahoo, Director (Finance), Shri Rajeev Kushwah, Chief Vigilance Officer and other senior officials of MRPL were present during the occasion. Large number of MRPL Employees and CISF Personnel led by their Deputy Commandant actively participated in the programme.

 

MD, MRPL addressed the gathering and the student community and appealed to everyone to follow Swachatha practices in their life. He said students should act as the Brand Ambassadors of Swach Bharath Abhiyaan and spread the message of Swachatha among the society around them.

 

Inauguration programme was followed by Shramadan activity by MRPL Employees, Family members and CISF Personnel. NSS Volunteers of Govinda Dasa First Grade College, Surathkal along with NSS officers actively participated in the Shramadan Activity. Members of JCI, Ganeshpura also joined in the Swachatha activity.

 

Shramadan activity in both sides of Ganeshpura Junction was undertaken by the volunteers.
